Hilary Conklin is a former middle and high school social studies teacher, and is now in her twelfth year as a Professor of Education at DePaul University. Her research and teaching focus on teacher education, social studies education, and civic education through an equity-focused lens. Prior to becoming an educator, she worked at non-profit organizations that supported teacher professional development and arts education. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education and Sociology/ Anthropology from Swarthmore College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since moving to Evanston, she has served as the PTA Council representative for Lincolnwood School and has been an active participant in racial justice initiatives at Lincolnwood and at DePaul. She and her husband live in Evanston with their daughter who attends ETHS.
